Japanese women in parliament

As of May 2004, Japan is ranked 96th in the world for the percentage of women in parliament.
Rwanda is number 1, and Scandinavian countries dominate the top 6.

The data in the table below has been compiled by the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the basis of information provided by National Parliaments by 31 May 2004. 183 country are classified by descending order of the percentage of women in the lower or single House.

    You might note that while Japan is ranked 96 (as in having the 96th largest number) it is actually behind 133 other countries due to ties.
    US is 58th ranked but number 69

    I take that all back. totally misread the chart. In fact when I threw the numbers into excel the numbers go totally screwy. Japan comes out as 114 if you look at raw numbers of parliment members regardless of house. As close as I can get they averaged houses which gives a completely biased figure.
